Bill O'Donald will lead a ride Saturday, March 13. The ride on March 13th will start in South Arlington at the QT on the S.E. corner of I-20 and Collins at 8:30 with KSU at 9:00. We will head West on I-20 to 180 into Weatherford. From Weatherford, we will head up 51 to 920, left on 1885, after making our first stop right by 1885. 1885 becomes 254, to 16. Right on 16 to 2353, and probably make a 2nd stop at a Phillips on that corner for gas and a short rest. We will loop around by Possum Kingdom Lake back to 16. If the weather is good, we'll loop back onto 16 south to 180, left back into Mineral Wells, and stay on 180 back into Weatherford and split off onto Santa Fe Drive and stop for lunch at Antonio's Mexican Restaurant. If I can get a fair head count by Thursday, I can put in reservations for us to be able to sit in an area together. If the weather is not so good, we'll stop at Salina's Mexican restaurant by the lake. If anyone can see a problem, please let me know. The ride is a little lengthy for selfish reasons since I won't be able to ride for 2 or 3 months after a double operation on my left wrist and hand on the 16th. Everyone pray for great riding weather!
It's time for us all to fill out the Ride Waiver for 2010. You can find the link on the "RIDES" page and print it out from there.
The 10th annual Texas Star BQ will be held on May 7-8 in Tyler Texas. The chapter voted to take on the 50/50 for 2010. There is a competition for the 2010 Star BQ logo. The Johnson County chapter has already submitted their entry. If you wish to enter your idea, you need to send it to Mike Wright by the end of the first week of Nov. Also, the 2010 Star Days has been moved to Chattanooga TN.
BIKE SHOW.
BIKE SHOW. April 10, 2010 at Stadium Yamaha. The show will include both bikes and classic cars. The target number of participants is at least 100 entries. The initial strategy is to blitz car clubs and bike shops/clubs with emails and flyers to get their involvement. Additionally, Mark is working on getting support from WBAP radio that has supported FTC in the past. LOS will develop a plan for food at the show. The food was very successful last year. We are asking that each member plan to enter his/her bike and to bring along at least one non-member to enter theirs. This will go a long way to reaching our 100 entry target. We are developing an email program with monthly reminders and a pre-registration option for the show. Updates and additional details will be presented at future meetings. Mark suggested that each person visit with their HR Dept. to see how their company might contribute to FTC. Mike Dorn will also make brochures available to help solicit donations.
It still rains and blows in North Texas from time to time, and if the outlook is bad enough, we may cancel a sanctioned ride. Here’s the procedure for checking if a scheduled ride has been canceled due to bad weather. If the weather is questionable on the day of a scheduled ride, the Ride Captain will make a decision on the morning of the ride and if he decides to cancel it for any reason, a notice of cancellation will be posted on the Chapter 206 website calendar. We will try to get cancellations posted before 7:00 A.M. If the ride is not canceled no additional confirmations will be posted so plan to show up.
