Our chapter participates in, and sometimes sponsors, various large gatherings and charitable events, usually for the national STAR charity Feed the Children. STAR DAYS—various of our members have attended the national STAR gathering, which attracts STAR members from all over the U.S. Read more here. STAR*B*Q—Chapter 206 was the sponsoring chapter of the 2006 “StarBQ” held in Ft. Worth. This is a regional gathering of STAR members from all over Texas and surrounding states. The 2009 StarBQ will be held in Kerrville, TX in June, and Chapter 206 will be there in force! And, there are always local non-STAR events, year-round in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area—toy runs, charity rides and fund-raisers, motorcycle shows, etc. STAR and Chapter 206 has a “presence” at many of these, even if they are not officially-sanctioned STAR events. |

From the Feed The Children website: “Feed The Children truck and STAR Touring Texas motorcycles paraded to our agency partner, Living Word Fellowship in Fort Worth, for the Annual Texas STARBQ. Fort Worth’s Chapter 206 not only raised $12,200 for Feed The Children but, upon arrival, they found the church in poor repair and in great need of assistance. The members dug deep in their pockets and came up with another $2,700 for repairs. "The FTC delivery to this church is the best one we have had in Texas so far,” said Paula Sandlin, STAR Touring South Regional Director. “The people working with the church and then the people receiving the food were all so appreciative of our donation, it was amazing!" We agree and offer our sincere thanks to everyone involved that day.” |
